Copper forging apprentices typically graduate in 2–3 years: the first 3 months drill standard striking (60–80 blows per minute, faces overlapping by half), then heat-judgment annealing — copper comes out and quenches at cherry red, 550°C — with year one requiring independent drawing out and bending of square bar. ABANA's National Curriculum (levels I–III) certifies progress in the West; China offers the national forging trade skill ladder. Graduation test: complete a vessel shaped in three heats, unaided, and self-inspect it crack-free.
