Beijing cloisonné was inscribed in China's first national intangible-heritage list (2006) under a "representative inheritor" system: inheritors receive stipends and must take apprentices, typically after 20+ years mastering body-making, wire-filigree, enamel-filling, firing, grinding and gilding. After state-factory restructuring, inheritor studios took on palace lamp reproductions and state-gift commissions—filigree alone exceeds 40% of total hours. Apprenticeship grants require apprentices to finish a 30 cm vase unaided within three years, easing an aging fillers' workforce. ---
