A beginner leaf-gilding class: 0–30 min on leaf history and grades (pass around 23.75K and imitation samples); 30–60 min demo of sanding, primer and water glaze (20:1 water to size); 60–120 min hands-on leafing a 10×10 cm MDF tile using the straw-paper carry method, tamping with cotton and dusting off; 120–150 min shellac or waterborne fluorocarbon sealing to take home. Materials run about 25 CNY per head (imitation leaf 0.8 CNY, real leaf ~6); price 199 CNY with eight per class, roughly 60% margin. Pregnant or asthma-prone attendees get waterborne materials first.
