Die sharing has taken off in overseas coining communities: members register idle dies in a shared library at 10–20 US dollars per use, with popular anniversary designs booked out well ahead. Paired with open medal designs (DXF and STL files under CC licences), newcomers can go straight to CNC cutting or trial-strike with 3D-printed resin dies first. Three operating rules: log edge damage at every check-in, mark the press tonnage each die set is rated for, and feed finished pieces back into the design library. The scheme drops the cost of a single trial medal from hundreds of dollars to tens—democratising medal design.
