Danish and Japanese furniture brands pair sand-cast brass connectors with solid wood: castings carry pre-inserted M6–M8 nuts or cast tapered tenons (faces bead-blasted to Ra 6.3 for bond strength), fixed into slotted wood with epoxy plus mechanical capture. A Copenhagen studio cast 300 brass table-leg junctions (CW617N, 0.6 kg each, four per green-sand flask) for a restaurant project — no exposed screws anywhere on the oak tops. Design notes: compensate copper/wood expansion (17 vs 5×10⁻⁶/K) with slotted holes and rubber washers, and never let copper touch wood long-term — tannins stain the metal — without a washer or coating.
