The Gundestrup Cauldron (c. 150 BC, National Museum of Denmark) is a textbook of repoussé: thirteen inner and seven outer plates, each worked from 0.3–0.5 mm silver—faces pushed up about 3 mm from the back, then lined from the front for hair and armour, the finest lines under 0.5 mm wide. XRF shows traces of gold and bismuth, pointing to remelted Roman coin silver. The riveted, demountable assembly reveals a modular, organised repoussé production line in Iron Age Gaul.
