Tsuiki copperware of Tsubame, Niigata, is famed for "one-block" forming: since 1816 Gyokusendo has passed the craft through seven generations, alternating raising and planishing over hundreds of rounds until walls thin to 0.4–0.5 mm without cracking, thanks to anneals at about 600 °C every 20–30 min. The wood-grain hammer layout is the maker's signature; the craft received Japanese traditional-craft designation in 2016. ---
